Bacteria in the mouth may be a cause of Crohn's disease

Many studies show that people with Crohn's disease have a less diverse community of gut bacteria. They also have higher levels of certain types of bacteria that can trigger gut inflammation. But it isn't only the gut's bacteria that show signs of dysfunction in people with Crohn's disease. Rather unexpectedly, research also shows that the bacteria in the mouth might also be important in this inflammatory condition.
